Our library has two elevators...one for patrons and one for staff. Since there are a lot of employees to handle, the elevator usage is high. You have to be prepared for lengthy waits...and when the elevator finally does arrive, it may be too full. At that point, four flights of stairs don't seem like a big deal.
Thanks to P.H. in the circ department for planting the seed for this idea.

Wow, and not even a single truck in the mix! That can only be at lunchtime... I'm sort of glad I'm not the only one who looks at a crowded elevator and says, "no, thanks."

Hi Jayson! I miss you guys, but I don't miss waiting for that elevator. I'm sending a postcard soon, I promise.

This is so true. And if you're going to a public floor do you wait for the staff elevator or brave the stinky public one?

Ugh, the elevators in my college's library are wicked old. They take forever to get anywhere, and when you're in the lobby on the first floor and want to go up, they go down to the basement and open up on the first floor again before going up to your desired floor. Every single time, without fail. Every month practically someone gets stuck in them for hours because they malfunction, and the buttons don't light up anymore. Let's just say I am more than happy to take the stairs.

Angie - I thought we had it bad here, but your elevator story takes the cake.

Wow, Angie, your elevators sound like the ones in Kramer Hall at PSU! Maybe it is a college thing...
