This cartoon reminds me of the trash compactor scene from Star Wars. Sometimes I forget to check if anyone is between shelves before I start them moving to access another section. Luckily there haven't been any mishaps yet...knock on wood.

Aw, how can you malign the archival shelving? The way it shakes books off the shelves when it's moving; the several times a week that it gets stuck and must be fixed before you can do anything; not being able to get to things when anyone else is using the section... what's not to love? Sure, the need to scamper out of the way when it starts moving unexpectedly is the very least of its problems. Still, if it is any comfort, I for one promise to never squish you.

dude, that thing about being amputated from the ears/ankle/elbow/etc up is one of amy all-time favorite colombyisms... reminds me of the good old days at Carpetville, USA.

Yours doesn't have a kick panel at the bottom of each unit as a "panic button" for someone who happens to be in there when the shelves start moving...?

Actually there is a kick panel at the bottom of each shelve, but I still don't trust 'em... :D
