This is probably due to the fact that there's seldom more than one page on duty at a time. We're a small library.

My favorite patrons that camp are not the ones that sit with a stack of books around them, because at least you know you only have to shelve around them once. The ones I have show-downs with are the ones who are browsing the stacks, not really knowing what they're looking for, and no matter what book is in your hand, they're always standing right in front of where it needs to go.

You go shelve somewhere else with a different stack of books, and they're magically there before you, but you never saw them leave. You say "excuse me" and go around them, and move on to the next aisle, and you have to say it again. This continues and they get annoyed with you, like it's your fault that they don't know what they're looking for. You ask if you can help them find anything and they bite your head off and accuse you of calling them incompetent. And suddenly they've disappeared, as mysteriously as they arrived, and you wonder what was in that hot chocolate you drank that morning to make such a weird experience.
-AngieAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-36413062.post-89690680521739026132007-12-15T22:39:00.000-08:002007-12-15T22:39:00.000-08:00I didn't know throwing down the gauntlet was an op...I didn't know throwing down the gauntlet was an option! But I know what you mean...trying to get around patrons in the aisles can be difficult, especially when they're camped out on the floor surrounded by books.Jaysonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02564593337115189611noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-36413062.post-34657170984477399482007-12-12T10:34:00.000-08:002007-12-12T10:34:00.000-08:00This is my favorite one so far.
